Too much to paint, too little time, so my residency has now been officially extended until the end of the year. This is an exciting development as I have much to do and the extra time ensures I can complete all I need to paint.

Artist in Residence
Fairmont Empress Hotel
I have been appointed Artist in Residence at the Fairmont Empress in Victoria from mid-August until mid-November. The Empress is one of the grand old CPR hotels, a Victoria landmark, and definitely the ultimate experience for a tourist in the city. This is a great honour and an opportunity for me to expose my art to the visiting public. I shall be painting in the studio/gallery located in the atrium above the registration area most days of the week, so, if you are around in the late summer or fall, please drop by, enjoy the ambiance and check out my work.

Artishow Plein Air Event – Fairmont Empress
I will be attending this event on the lawns of the beautiful Empress Hotel in Victoria’s Inner Harbour. The event will have many Victoria area artists in attendance painting outdoors in the hopefully fine weather we expect to have. The hours will be from noon to six. Hope to see you there.

The Moss Street Paint In
Moss Street from Fort Street to Dallas Road
The Moss Street Paint In is one of my favourite events of the year. The past two have involved hiring a model to sit for me and basically, I just start and finish a painting during the day – breaking off to talk to interested people. Sales can happen – not to be counted on – but very nice when they do. Basically it’s just a fun event, great atmosphere, positive feedback and beer garden when it’s finished. The weather is always good and this year better not be an exception.

Art Gallery of Greater Victoria
A wearable art extravaganza, beyond the typical runway fashion show!
This year’s event takes place Saturday June 11, 7:30 pm at the Art Gallery: a unique runway show followed by a reception where audience and artists can mix and mingle and partake in a silent auction featuring original silk scarves by Victoria’s professional artists.
This event, now in its second year, is a fundraiser for the Associates of the Gallery and highlights the talents and creativity of local artists and designers.
The event will feature an auction of silk scarves hand-painted by the following local artists: Robert Amos, Nancy Slaght, Butch Dick, Judy McLaren, Catherine Moffat, Carole Sabiston, April Caverhill, and Dale Roberts.
Above is my contribution.
